April Fool’s Day Funny Photo Contest

Facebook Spanish Vocabulary

As you saw in the video, it’s time for the “Funny Photo Facebook Contest” for April Fool’s Day. It doesn’t matter where you’re from or what you’re doing, you should participate in this contest. Obviously let’s keep it clean and tasteful, but let’s have some fun at someone else’s expense! For one day of the year, (and for this contest it’s actually 3 days) it is absolutely okay to do that. Here are the rules for the Facebook contest.

1. Take a picture of a prank you did.
2. Post it on our Facebook wall.
3. Give your photo a brief description in English.
4. Get your friends to “like” your photo.

The person who receives the most “likes” on their photo wins the Visual Link Spanish course of their choice. Bundles are not included. The contest ends on Sunday, April 3rd, at midnight, Mountain Standard Time. It would also be nice if you would comment on each other’s photos with the vocabulary I just taught you or with anything thing else you want to say about their photos as well.

Here is the vocabulary from the video in case you can’t remember or forgot to take notes.

I like your photo. Me gusta tu foto.
I really like/love your photo. Me encanta tu foto.
It’s clever. Es listo.
It’s very witty/funny. Es muy gracioso.
It’s surprising. Es sorprendente.
It’s funny. Es chistoso.
It’s awesome. Es chévere.
It’s impressive. Es impresionante.
You have a good sense of humor. Tienes un buen sentido del humor.
I want to do this prank. Quiero hacer esta broma.

Please come and post your photos and practice your Spanish with us on our Facebook page for Facebook Fiesta Friday. I hope you can have fun with the jokes and that you do them all in good humor. If you happen to play a joke on your spouse and it gets a little bit out of hand, you may need to learn how to say I love you in Spanish to patch things up. So have fun, but be careful as well.

Spanish Doctor Visit

by Jake Beus March 17th, 2011 20 comments More

Describe Your Pain Spanish Video Lesson

Doctor Visit Spanish Vocabulary:

If you are going to visit a foreign country, you should know that it’s important to be prepared. Sometimes unfortunate things happen when you’re traveling. I would like to thank Lisa Ferguson on Facebook for suggesting this idea to have a lesson about describing your pain or illness in Spanish to a doctor. If a doctor can’t understand what you’re saying, it will make his/her job to treat your illness even more difficult. That’s just one more reason for you to learn Spanish. This Spanish lesson could save your life one day, or at least make your life a little bit less painful. Watch the video lesson above and check out the table with vocabulary below. For more body parts, check out our list of Spanish body parts so you can more accurately describe your pain.

One purpose of the Spanish video lesson is for you to be able to practice what you learn on Facebook Fiesta Friday, where practically the whole world comes to practice their Spanish every Friday! It certainly helps that we give away free learn Spanish software to at least one participant each week.

Here is the vocabulary from the video in case you can’t remember or forgot to take notes.

What hurts you or what’s hurting you? ¿Qué te duele?
Does this hurt you? ¿Esto te duele?
How do you feel? ¿Cómo se siente?
My stomach hurts. Me duele el estómago.
My throat hurts. Me duele la garganta.
I can’t sleep at night. No puedo dormir en la noche.
I get heartburn often. Tengo acidez a menudo.
I can’t move my finger. No puedo moverme el dedo.
I twisted my ankle. Me torcí el torbillo.
I have a headache. Tengo un dolor de cabeza.
I don’t like pills. No me gustan las pastillas.
I need more pills. Necesito mas pastillas.
I burned myself. Me quemé.

Please come and practice with me, Dave, and 7,600 more people on this page: http://www.facebook.com/visuallinkspanish. Share your pains and illnesses with us, and I say that because I’m pretty sure you can’t spread illness over the Internet. There is a huge list of Spanish words separated into categories  for you to learn if you haven’t browsed around yet.  We want to help you learn a language with thousands of words, phrases, and verbs in each language. Have fun and I hope to see you on Facebook!

Best of luck to all of you and to both teams playing in the Super Bowl on Sunday. I guess we’ll all see if my prediction of the Packers winning is correct. I have been wrong before.
